PAUL DAVIS PRODUCTIONS

Paul Davis's production work - often with Ed Seay - has generally been on his own records. But Paul has produced for a number of other artists, perhaps most notably Nigel Olsson, former drummer with the Elton John Band. The Davis-produced "Dancin' Shoes" is one of the greatest and most beloved soft-rock hits of the late seventies.

Nigel Olsson: Nigel Olsson (Columbia)

1979

Nigel Olsson: Nigel (Bang)

This is largely the same as the "Nigel Olsson" album on Columbia, but with a number of tracks replaced. Among the new additions is "Dancin' Shoes", which had charted late in 1978 as a Bang single. A brilliant cover of an original by the Indiana group Faith Band, it was this Olsson's record that dominated in the Hot 100, although both versions charted. A repackaged version of the "Nigel" album has appeared as a CD on the Collectables label under the title "A Golden Classics Edition". Both the "Nigel Olsson" and "Nigel" albums include the Davis-Olsson song "Part of the Chosen Few".
