THE REIVERS - A MYSTERY SOLVED

Paul Davis wrote, co-produced and sang lead on the 1970 near-hit "Revolution in my Soul "/ "Constantly", credited to the Reivers (White Whale WW360). In 1999, "Constantly" appeared on the CD compilation "Happy Together - The Very Best of White Whale Records".

The story behind the original single is a fascinating example of how the record industry sometimes worked at the time. Ilene Berns of Bang, and Eddie Biscoe of White Whale, were at Muscle Shoals while Paul was recording there, and had the idea for him to record Revolution In My Soul for White Whale under the ficticious name of the Reivers. Constantly, a demo probably recorded at Malaco, wound up on the B-side, but ended up getting more airplay, hence its appearance on the "Happy Together" compilation. A great story behind a fascinating record.
